MEDITATIONS ON MUSIC & MEDIA

IMPACTFUL ALBUMS

A Facebook friend once challenged me to post “10 albums that had an impact on me in 10 days, no explanations.” I put the task off for weeks for several reasons. First of all, I’m a music obsessive with hundreds upon hundreds of cds, records, cassettes, and mp3s to choose from. Any attempt to distill this lifetime of collecting down to ten “most impactful” albums makes my brain hurt. Second, my OCD defensive mechanisms render me incapable of not justifying my selections. I simply must talk about it. Third, I’m indecisive as hell. I second guess my second, third, and tenth guesses. Picking “the” ten is an impossibility.

So, in the interest of not making my head explode, I’ve made the executive decision to write about albums that impacted me in no particular order until I run out. See, catastrophe avoided (smile).

Aaah yes. The first truly great Beatles album that was a turning point for the band. Fun fact: Michelle’s dad was inspired by the song “Michelle” for her “American Name”.

Anyway, I enjoyed this closer look into the album. I am also glad that I get your notifications by email now that I have moved it from my spam folder! Whoooooo!
