As the title suggests, I’m going for vaguely nostalgic “warm and fuzzy” summer vibes for this one, folks. The perfect playlist for chilling on a warm, dry summer evening! So grab some cool, tasty beverages, find a comfortable spot amid the tall grass or whatever, sit back with your favorite humans, and enjoy some great tunes at sunset.
Celebrating a century of integral contributions by black artists to the world of pop music and culture, the Wall of Tunes proudly presents the 2025 Juneteenth Playlist!
…And only three days late.* Whattaya know…
As per usual, with no shortage of essential artists and material to choose from, I went a little overboard. At 6 3/4 hours, this mix is a beast! But, having affectionately flowed together 101 works representing a wide a range of 20th century+ popular music, I think it’s a rewarding beast. One might notice a slight leaning on my part toward ’60s and ’70s r&b vibes, but, still, it balances well.
Special shout out to my great friend and fellow music obsessive Eric K for collaborating on song selection! The playlist would have been shamefully incomplete without him.

ABOUT THIS SITE
Welcome to the WALL OF TUNES blog!
I’m Forrest. In college, friends jokingly likened me to John Cusak’s character from High Fidelity because, well, I’m angsty and I like to talk about music – a LOT.
THE WALL OF TUNES dives deep into my personal experiences with media – expanding upon the mix of informational content and highly subjective analyses I post on Facebook, but with more detail, better quality control, and less bad language (smile).
